-WHO WE ARE-

AND AVAILABLE PRESENTATIONS

  Who We Are:

Woodstream Orchids is the largest active producer of seed grown orchid species and hybrids in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia region. Woodstream Orchids was founded in 1990, as a mail order distributor of orchid flasks and seedlings (predominantly Paphs). We are now one of the largest breeders of Paphiopedilums and Phragmipediums in the United States.

Woodstream Orchids is the exclusive retail and wholesale partner of Maduro's Tropical Flowers (MTF) of Panama. This joint venture allows us to offer species and unique hybrids from one of the largest and most diverse orchid nurseries in the hemisphere. 2008 celebrates our 8th Anniversary working with the Maduros! Andrew Maduro Jr. (Choty) has been given the responsibility of running the Maduro's orchid business. Choty is currently a student at Cornell University in New York. While Choty is in college the Maduros are taking a hiatus on regular orchid exports. Work continues in Panama to enlarge the nursery and grow even better plants. We are proud of Choty's accomplishments and look forward to continuing working with the Maduros when he returns.

In February, 2002, Woodstream Orchids entered a joint venture with Papa Aroha Orchids of Coromandel, New Zealand. Paph Aroha is an exclusive hybridizer and grower of high quality and unique Paphiopedilum hybrids and species. We offer seedlings and blooming size plants from the Papa Aroha nursery.

Barry Fraser closed Papa Aroha Orchids in late 2005 to enjoy a retirement of "windsurfing and tramping around the world". Consequently, Woodstream Orchids has purchased much of Barry's incredible breeding stock, and thousands of seedlings to perpetuate the tradition of excellence that Barry Fraser created in the area of Paphiopedilum species and complex Paphiopedilum hybrids. We also puchased significant portions of the elite Paphiopedilum species and hybrid breeding stock from Emerson 'Doc' Charles' famous collection and Dr. Jack Vickery's Orchid Thoroughbreds. These acquisitions will allow us to bring many exciting offerings to our Paph customers for years to come!

Our orchid nursery is located in Huntingtown, in Maryland's beautiful Calvert County, near the Chesapeake Bay, within easy access from Washington, D.C., Baltimore and Annapolis.

Our Goal:
Woodstream Orchids has made excellence in customer service our goal. We make every attempt to deliver well-grown, pest-free plants, as quickly as possible. By carefully controlling our overhead and managing in-house and contract production, we strive to provide reasonable pricing and deliver a feeling of value to each customer.

Recycled Shipping Material:
Some of you have called or written expressing opinions (mostly positive) about our use of "Previously-Owned" cartons and styrofoam peanuts. We strongly believe that using recycled materials is the right thing to do for the environment, and by doing so we keep our overhead as low as possible. Consequently, we do not add on large packing and handling charges.

Our Guarantee:
Woodstream Orchids guarantees your satisfaction with all the plants that we sell, upon delivery. We have a return policy, which allows plants to be returned (postmarked) within 5 business days for any reason for full credit or refund. All Paph and Phrag species we sell are guaranteed to be true to name, or they will be replaced (if possible) and/or a full credit on future purchases will be given.
